Computelec today announced it has acquired West Australian (WA) based IT company Algar Burns and that the two companies have united to enable better business in WA.
With a history in Perth dating back to 1977, Algar Burns is a strong brand in the WA education market. Both organisations are Microsoft Gold Partners.
The acquisition unites two significant suppliers in the WA education market. Algar Burns services Microsoft Enterprise Licensing Agreements to the Catholic Education Office and jointly holds the supply Microsoft LAR agreement (with Computelec) for the Association of Independent Schools in the state.
Computelec CEO David La Bozzetta said the acquisition of Algar Burns demonstrated Computelec’s commitment to continued investment in the WA education market.
“Algar Burns is a very successful local company with a proud 30 year history focused in WA. This strong brand presence, along with the synergies between the two companies, led to the acquisition,” he said.
“This is exciting for Independent and Catholic schools, as the acquisition means we will be able to offer even better services and expanded solutions to WA,” Mr La Bozzetta said.
Mr La Bozzetta said the acquisition also provided Computelec access to a much larger share of the WA education market.
“Computelec has provided a range of computing products and services to Independent and Catholic schools in WA for 10 years and in Victoria and NSW for 23 years – this acquisition demonstrates the strength and longevity of our company as an organisation,” he said.
“Both organisations have excellent relationships with WA schools. The combined experience of both companies will deliver customers increased levels of efficiency through more effective operational processes and customer service.”
As a recipient of Microsoft’s 2006 Operational Excellence Award, Computelec offers all Independent and Catholic schools in WA the benefits of an efficient and quality focused company.
Microsoft Licensing Sales Director, Mr Phil Carrier said: “Computelec have been a strong education partner to Microsoft for the past 12 years and their focus in this market segment brings an unparalleled level of service and operational excellence to WA. Microsoft welcomes this union between the two Gold Partner companies.”
“The acquisition will enable Computelec to build upon its local operations in WA which will assist in providing schools with an even better level of service in the future.” said Mr La Bozzetta.
